The most popular game console of the last years is, without a doubt, the PlayStation 4. The game console launched in 2013 and thus celebrates its sixth birthday. Meanwhile, a lot of cool games have appeared on the console and the PlayStation 4 Pro enabled you to play games in 4K and HDR. Also this year a few great games are on the planning, but after that it seems to be time for the PlayStation 5. Several studios from Sony would be working on games for that new game computer.
Games are being made for the PlayStation 5
There are different elements that indicate this. The most important one is undoubtedly that Sony chooses to skip the E3 this year. Usually, this game convention is used to announce upcoming things. However, it would be too early to announce the PlayStation 5 now already. The game console is not expected to be launched before 2020 and announcing it earlier could affect the sales of the PS4. There still are certainly five big PlayStation 4-games in development, so enough is released for the time being.
Besides that, industry analyst Daniel Ahmad states on the forum of ResetEra that the different studios already have access to the development kits for the PlayStation 5 and that it could be that particular games will be released for both the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 5. That is also not very uncommon for games that are released at the end of a console’s lifecycle.
At the moment we look forward to games like The Last of Us II, Death Stranding, Dreams, Ghosts of Tsushima and Days Gone. There are however also a bunch of studios that released their last game a few years ago and might be working on a PlayStation 5-project. Think of the dutch Guerilla, that released its last game about two years ago with Horizon Zero Dawn. Chances are that they are already working on the PS5. Want to read more about gaming?
